Mid-Session: Indices in red; metal, IT, pharma stocks under pressure

The frontline indices turned volatile in the noon deals on Friday as profit booking in metals, IT, pharma, and auto stocks dragged markets lower. However, gains in banking, and RIL shares, capped downside.

At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 60858.05 down by -65.45 points or by -0.11 % and then NSE Nifty was at 18153.9 down by -24.2 points or by -0.13 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 61420.13 and intraday low of 60846.21 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 18314.25 and intraday low of 18128.5

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3898.60,+2.52%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 2909.50,+2.34%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 18978.90,+2.05%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2174.85,+1.36%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 816.35,+0.91%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 238.45,-2.63%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2925.00,-2.61%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1712.35,-2.37%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 144.45,-2.23%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1289.95,-1.86%), among others.

Realty index was at 4040.69 up by 57.51 points or by 1.44%. Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 444.20,+4.55%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 920.70,+3.93%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2340.30,+2.34%), Sunteck Realty Ltd. (Rs. 476.65,+1.50%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 424.05,+1.22%),. Metal index was at 20367.69 down by -579.91 points or by -2.77%. Vedanta Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3529 , shares advanced were 1397 while 1945 shares declined and 187 were unchanged
