Sensex jumps 795 pts, Nifty above 11,954; BJP set to return

The Indian benchmark indices are trading strongly positive on Thursday as BJP has secured more than 300 seats which indicates that NDA government is coming in power for another five-year term. Among sectors, all the sectoral indices are trading in gains led by banks, auto, energy, infra, metal and pharma. On the corporate front, Ajanta Pharma has received USFDA approval for generic of Vesicare tablet. Among individual shares, the shares of Bank of Baroda surged 10 per cent after the company cut losses in the quarter ended March 2019.

At 10:10 hours, the SENSEX was trading at 39906.09 up by 795.88 points or by 2.03 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11954.05 up by 216.15 points or by 1.84 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 39936.88 and intraday low of 39464.69 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11968.95 and intraday low of 11836.9.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1616.00,+6.49%), State Bank of India (Rs. 357.10,+4.77%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 422.55,+4.20%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 143.40,+4.14%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1518.80,+3.99%), among others. On the other hand, the top losers of the BSE Sensex were Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 163.90,-1.53%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1056.05,-0.30%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 419.50,-0.27%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 179.10,-0.20%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2079.40,-0.16%), among others.

Among sectors, Bankex index was at 35432.11 up by 1224.08 points or by 3.58%. Bank of Baroda (Rs. 141.80,+12.36%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1616.00,+6.49%), State Bank of India (Rs. 357.10,+4.77%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 422.55,+4.20%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 143.40,+4.14%),. On the other hand, IT index was at 15142.5 down by -63.5 points or by -0.42%. Brightcom Group Ltd. (Rs. 5.18,-4.95%), Intense Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 37.10,-2.88%), MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 942.85,-1.68%), Cerebra Integrated Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 26.70,-0.93%), Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 474.30,-0.86%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1858 , shares advanced were 1351 while 430 shares declined and 77 were unchanged.
