The benchmark indices settled marginally lower on Friday weighed by IT bellwether Tata Consultancy Services and select banking and automobile stocks. Mixed global cues and a weaker rupee also weighed on indices. On the macro front, the rupee was trading lower by 21 paise to 70.55 against the US dollar. Brent crude futures were trading 1.10 per cent higher at USD 62.36 per barrel. Asia stocks mostly gained Friday. Stocks in Europe traded slightly higher. Steady global cues in the morning ensured that the market had a positive start. However, there was a decline in majority of indices, led by losses in TCS. This pushed the indices further lower. Surrendering early gains, the benchmark indices Friday dropped as investors booked profits even as global equities rose.
