The benchmark indices are trading higher with the Nifty50 reclaiming 10,400 levels as rupee rose against US Dollar amid steady Asian peers.
The rupee extended its morning gains as it is trading higher by 52 paise at 73.60 per dollar. It has opened higher by 29 paise at 73.83 per dollar versus previous close 74.12.
On macro front, India's industrial production (IIP) data for August and retail inflation (CPI) prints for September will be released today.
Globally, after plunging to 19-month low on Thursday Asian shares appears tentative on Friday, holding steady after a nine-day losing streak, but sentiment frailed after Wall Street shares crumbled and expectations of market volatility shot up to an eight-month high.
At 11:10 AM BSE SENSEX was at 34641.09 up by 639.94 points or by 1.88 % and NSE Nifty was at 10431.65 up by 197 points or by 1.92 %.
The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 34702.01 and intraday low of 34279.78. The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10449.15 and intraday low of 10322.15.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 766.70,+5.00%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 250.30,+4.29%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 275.85,+4.02%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7152.00,+3.98%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 322.85,+3.61%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1907.50,-3.65%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 670.00,-0.74%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 311.55,-0.48%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 586.50,-0.14%), among others.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE out of total shares traded 2414, shares advanced were 1844 while 456 shares declined and 114 were unchanged.
