Post-Session: Sensex ends 152 pts up as RBI maintains status quo

The Nifty50 and Sensex ended higher after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% and retained its neutral policy stance, in line with market expectations.

The central bank also maintained a constructive outlook on the economy, projecting India's GDP growth at 6.7% for FY27, while revising its inflation forecast for the fiscal year down to 5.0% from the earlier estimate of 5.1%, providing further support to investor sentiment.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 78581 up by 152.05 points or by 0.19 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24624.65 up by 9.75 points or by 0.04 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 79055.38 and intraday low of 78285.74 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24677.6 and intraday low of 24497.95

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12199.00,+2.04%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 348.00,+1.77%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1053.00,+1.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3464.00,+1.73%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5401.45,+1.34%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2419.80,-1.23%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1341.00,-1.12%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1281.00,-0.93%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 389.20,-0.71%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1949.00,-0.56%), among others.
