Post-Session: Sensex 760 pts; Nifty ends atop 24,100; Pharma outperforms

The benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex ended the week's last trading session in positive territory.

The day ended in favour of bulls as 43 out of 50 constituent stocks on Nifty50 settled higher, with gains led by Bharti Airtel, Cipla, Sun Pharma, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Tata Consumer of up to 4.40 per cent. Conversely, Power Grid Corporation, Shriram Finance, Hero MotoCorp, HDFC Life, and Nestle India led losses extending up to 1.35 per cent. Notably, Reliance Industries (RIL) ended 1.63 per cent higher on Friday, leading the pack among index heavyweights.

The 30-share benchmark index was trading at 79802.79 up by 759.05 points or by 0.96 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24131.1 up by 216.95 points or by 0.91 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 79923.9 and intraday low of 79026.18 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24188.45 and intraday low of 23927.15

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1627.45,+4.30%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1781.65,+2.68%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2968.95,+2.38%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1189.65,+1.94%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11193.35,+1.78%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 329.60,-1.23%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2237.00,-0.07%), State Bank of India (Rs. 838.35,-0.05%), among others.

Realty index was at 7959.82 down by -46.63 points or by -0.58%. Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1654.50,-2.09%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1640.00,-1.81%), Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1253.45,-1.66%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2777.45,-1.35%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 2002.00,-0.95%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4275 , shares advanced were 2488 while 1659 shares declined and 128 were unchanged.
